چکیده

The ability of the activated carbon prepared from Eichornia Crassipes to remove Reactive Magenta B and Reactive Turquoise Blue dyes from aqueous solution has been carried out as a function of contact time, dose (0.1-0.60 mg/50ml for Magenta B and 0.25-2.0 mg/50ml for Turquoise Blue), pH (2-10) and concentration (25, 50, 75, 100mg.L). An amount of 0.6 g of the adsorbent could remove 56.0% of the dye from 100mg.L Magenta B dye solution and 2.0 g could remove 45.87% of Turquoise Blue dye from 100 mg.L Turquoise Blue dye solution. The amount of dye adsorbed per unit weight of the adsorbent increased from 15.64 to 56.01mg.g with increasing concentration from 25 to 100 mg.L. The kinetics of adsorption was discussed in view of the kinetic models, the pseudo-first-order Lagergren model, Langmuir, Freundlich, Tempkin, Harkin’s-Jura, Elovich and the pseudo-second-order model.

The Perlite-calcium Alginate-activated Carbon Composite as an Efficient Adsorbent for the Removal of Dyes from Aqueous Solutions

To remove dyes from wastewater, the perlite-calcium alginate–activated carbon (PCA) composite was prepared by a simple method. This composite was characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM, and BET techniques. A high capacity of PCA was observed for the adsorption of some dyes such as methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) from aqueous solutions (1111 and 909 mg g-1). The best results were achieved at...

Role of activated carbon from natural adsorbent for removal of textile dyes: effect of pH, kinetic and adsorbent mass

In the present work, we have investigated the sorption efficiency of the treated activated carbon from walnut shell(ACW) towards Direct Red 81 (DR81) and Direct Blue 71 (DB71) for the removal from aqueous solution. Thesorption study of ACW at the solid-liquid interface was investigated using kinetic, sorption isotherms, pH effectand amount of adsorbent. Experimental data were analyzed by Langmu...

Removal of Methyl Orange Dye from Aqueous Solution by a Low-Cost Activated Carbon Prepared from Mahagoni (Swietenia mahagoni) Bark

This study utilized Swietenia mahagoni bark–a wood processing industry waste, for the preparation of activated carbon, and then investigated for the removal of methyl orange (MO) dye by the Swietenia mahagoni bark activated carbon (SMBAC). The effect of pH (3–10), adsorbent dose (1–30 g/L), initial MO dye concentration (10–100 mg/L), and contact time (1–240 min) were evaluated...
